MOZART: Requiem

Mozart’s Requiem needs little introduction. It was the music he was so desperately trying to complete when he died. Fortunately, his student and friend, Franz Sussmeyer took up the task, and the world is richer for it. This may very well be your “Desert Island” piece!

A few days prior to each Sinfonia concert, Maestro Clyde Mitchell or another music specialist presents a music-appreciation lecture, giving background information about the music that will be played at the upcoming concert. If you enjoy the pre-concert talks on the night of the concert, you will enjoy these sessions which invite you to learn more about the music and the historical context in which it was composed, and to deepen your understanding of this abstract yet infinitely expressive art form.

Pre-Concert Talk at 6:30pm
Centennial Theatre Lobby

Join the Maestro in the lobby before the concert and listen to him explain the background of the pieces and anecdotes about the composers you will hear this evening.
