Directed by YVES LACOURSIERE M. Mus
Yves Lacoursière has always been fascinated by symphonic and choral music and enjoys
performing in classical, popular and jazz styles. He has completed two Master's degrees: one
in saxophone, and one in conducting with Jean-François Rivest at the Université de Montréal.
Presently the director of the Kanata Symphony, he was also the music director of Pellegrini
Opera for five productions. Yves has recently recorded an orchestral CD with Natalia Lafourcade,
scoring and conducting her music, and is in the process of doing one with his jazz group
"Servantes" thanks to a grant from Musicaction.
After the success of our reading of Schubert's Mass in G, we thought we would explore another one of
his works.
The orchestra consists of oboes, bassoons, Bb trumpets, timpani, strings and keyboard.
The soloists will be our very own Susan Lines (soprano), Janet Siltanen (alto), Bliss
Tracy (tenor) and Don Glover (bass).
The music is available in advance for those who would like to look at it in advance of the
Reading (particularly useful for concert master, vocal and instrumental soloists and section leaders)

Easter Day is April 12th this year and you can celebrate it with coffee, muffins, friendship, and
above all SINGING of Easter hymns and some glorious choruses from 'The Messiah'. It's early,
but half of us are insomniacs anyway and it's worth it to see the sunlight streaming through the
windows of the Unitarian Church and the raising of voices in joyful song!.
Alan Thomas (popular leader of 'The Messiah' chorus workshops) is again our conductor and
Jane Perry the accompanist. Soloists are soprano Joan Fearnley and tenor Nathan Bell.
Tickets, $5, will be available at Leading Note and Book Bazaar after March 26th, and at the
door. If you intend coming but can't buy a ticket before Easter Sunday please let Janet
(613-728-9657) know so that we will have enough muffins for all. Talking of which,
contributions of muffins will be gratefully received.
See you there, and don't forget your 'Messiah' scores!
